Question: Spiritual Conversations?

Jesus had a way with words which often came as a result of asking a great question and then listening to the response. This seems to be a intentional method of Jesus: Ask a question; listen for a response; and act in a redeeming way toward the person (whether by word or deed). What are you doing to enter spiritual conversations with people on your campus? Post your comments here (don't be shy).

I have done many things to enter spiritual conversations with people. The easies thing I find in my position, because it is on a college campus, is to tell them what I am studying (Seminayr). It comes naturally because in college situations people always ask what the other is studying and that opens up an opportunity to talk about it.

For those who are not going to seminary, the next thing may work a little better for you if you know a lot of people. In my case, it doesn't take long someone to walk by that knows me, so what I do sometimes is read a christian book (text book, bible, spiritual growth book) in public. Sometimes people come along and say hi (christians and non-christians alike) and we talk a little and they ask what I'm reading and I tell them. Then an opportunity opens up to talk about spiritual things.

If someone asks about your weekend, you can tell them about going to church or to a christian concert. You just have to put yourself in situations where you can talk to people and tell them that you believe.

Those are just a few things I do to direct conversations toward spiritual things. I'd like to say more but I gotta go.

Well I was hoping there would be more responses and I was kind of waiting to see how all the "old pro's" answered this one but I guess I'll be left wanting this time.

So as far as initiating spiritual conversations on campus this year it has been pretty difficult. I think the thing that has been most effective (and that's not saying a ton) has been being really transparent with people about my own questions about God and seeing what they think. My Grandmother is not doing well and it has really made me begin to think more and more about her salvation and just what a long time eternity is. As I have shared this burden with students it has been interesting to hear their responses and hearts on the same matter.

As far as initiating spiritual conversations with pre-believers it seems almost non-existent. I am more organized and committed to the time that I spend on campus this year then I was last year and I have really been praying that God would lead me to the "Right Place" at the "Right Time" but it just doesn't seem to have taken much form yet.

Ok so not really trying to be negative, just honest and hoping to hear some other great replies that I can try out.

Thankfully it's not about us but it is about what God is doing and how we can Glorify Him while He is doing it.

Blessings,
